If you haven’t heard, Apple Podcasts is rolling out a new video podcast experience this spring, and it’s great news for independent podcasters.
Apple says listeners will be able to start with audio and seamlessly switch to video (and back) without losing their place, plus watch in a full horizontal view and download video for offline viewing.
For podcasters, the big takeaway is more engagement without rebuilding your workflow. Apple’s approach is designed to “integrate seamlessly” with what you already do, keeping core behaviors like followers and downloads working as they do today, while adding a richer format option for audiences who increasingly expect video.
On the business side, Apple also positions this as creator-controlled monetization, including support for dynamic video advertising—meaning you can potentially unlock new inventory and higher-value sponsorship packages (audio + video) while staying in Apple’s ecosystem.
Bottom line: if you’ve been “audio-first,” Apple is making video a native upgrade option without forcing you to become a YouTuber overnight.
