James Cridland to be Inducted into the Podcast Hall of Fame at Podfest 2026
Congratulations to One of the Pioneers in Podcasting!

Every year, one of the highlights of Podfest is getting to see some of the most influential pioneers in podcasting inducted into the Podcast Hall of Fame.
As you might know, the Podcast Hall of Fame hosts its annual induction ceremony at Podfest. Attendees with a ticket to Podfest can purchase a ticket to the Hall of Fame Ceremony and honor many of the people who helped build podcasting into the medium it is today.
And this year will be no different, with an impressive slate of inductees, including James Cridland.
James Cridland has more than 28 years in the radio and online business and helped launch the first daily podcast from a UK radio station along with the world’s first radio station streaming app. He’s been operating online publications since 1993, including the incredible daily newsletter, Podnews!
Please join the entire Podfest team in congratulating James on this well-deserved honor!

Podcasting honors continue to grow, with the Golden Globs added a best podcast category to their lineup this year.
Earlier this week, the six nominees were announced with the following nominees:
Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard
Call Her Daddy
Good Hang With Amy Poehler
The Mel Robbins Podcast
SmartLess
Up First
As with any award, news spread not just about who was nominated, but who was not, with The Hollywood Reporter noting that some of the largest podcasts and overtly political podcasts were shut out.

Are you subscribed to the Podcast Editors Mastermind Show? If not, you may have missed Steve Stewart and Mark Deal talking with Jeremy Enns of Podcast Marketing Academy about the latest podcasting marketing trends.
In it, Steve, Mark, and Jeremy talk about what podcast marketing encompasses and what you can do to set up your podcast for success, including editing’s role, how video impacts growth, and even how smaller shows can experience higher growth rates.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it here.

Adage published an interesting article about audio advertising in 2026, claiming that audio may be experiencing a renaissance and noting six trends they are watching as they head into 2026.
Here are three of the trends they’re monitoring in 2026, which will be interesting to follow from a podcasting perspective.
Will reach measurement finally allow advertisers to more accurately measure return on audio advertising investment using advanced attribution tools?
Will AI can help make ads more relevant, personable, and automated?
Will we finally see the year when video becomes a necessary complement to audio for maximum impact and advertising?
If you want to read the additional trends and see how they might translate into what you’re doing as a podcaster, you can read the article here.
