How To Use AI in Podcasting
The exciting opportunity and the legal minefield

It is clear that AI has quickly become part of the podcasting workflow but using it without understanding the legal implications could create real risks.
This timely blog post by Podfest community member Gordon Firemark breaks down what podcasters need to know when using AI tools for editing, scripting, voice generation, and audience insights.
One of the most important takeaways is that transparency matters. If AI plays a significant role in your content, failing to disclose it could damage audience trust and potentially raise concerns with regulators like the Federal Trade Commission.
The article also highlights key areas podcasters should pay attention to:
Guest consent - Make sure releases cover AI-assisted editing and usage
Terms of service - Some AI tools may use your content to train their models
Intellectual property - Clearly define what’s human-created vs AI-generated
Privacy - Be cautious when using AI tools that analyze listener data
Remember, even when using AI, you are still responsible for what you publish.
What this means for podcasters
While AI can speed up production and workflows, it can also add new legal considerations
Transparency and audience trust are becoming more important than ever
Reading the fine print on AI tools is no longer optional
Protecting your content and your guests should be part of your workflow
As AI continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the creators who use it strategically and responsibly will be the ones who stay ahead.

AI Isn’t Replacing Host-Read Ads… It’s Changing Them
A new perspective from Ad Results Media challenges one of the biggest fears in podcasting right now: that AI will replace the human voice in advertising.
Instead, what’s emerging is something different. AI isn’t taking over host-read ads… it’s enhancing them.
From better audience targeting to smarter campaign optimization, AI is helping brands get more precise and scalable with their messaging. But at the center of it all, one thing hasn’t changed: the host’s voice is still what builds trust and drives action.
The reality? This isn’t a shift from human to machine; it’s a shift toward human and machine working together.
What’s Behind It?
AI is improving audience insights, sentiment analysis, and targeting
Advertisers can better match messages to specific shows and listeners
Campaign workflows (testing, reporting, optimization) are becoming more automated
Host-read ads continue to outperform because of trust and authenticity
Underlying Questions
There’s an evolving balance between efficiency and authenticity.
AI can make ads smarter, faster, and more scalable—but it can’t replicate the relationship between a host and their audience. As technology advances, the real advantage may come from how well creators and brands combine data-driven strategy with human connection.
What are your thoughts?
Is this…
A positive evolution where AI helps host-read ads perform even better?
ORThe beginning of a shift that could slowly dilute the authenticity that makes podcast ads work?
We would love to hear your thoughts. Reply to this email and let us know. We would love to feature your responses in our weekly Messenger!

Hosted by Annheete Oakley and Philip Calcagno, the show examines how individuals navigate adversity, build mental resilience, and develop the clarity required to lead in complex environments. Each conversation is grounded in real-world experience, not surface-level motivation. Topics include personal sovereignty, emotional intelligence, family leadership, identity, and transformation through hardship.
Hosted by Francheska Stone, a former litigation paralegal turned podcast host and entrepreneur, this show documents career pivots, side hustle experiments, motherhood and ambition in real time.
David Savage brings a grounded, experience-driven perspective shaped by competition, mentorship, and real-life responsibility. He highlights how many men today were never taught how to lose, adapt, or lead—and how that gap shows up in confidence and resilience. From survival skills to public speaking to embracing failure, his message is simple: capability builds confidence.
How do you create genuine professional relationships in the age of AI and remote work? Making the Connection explores that question with professionals from all walks of life.
