What's in a Name? How to Name Your Podcast

Naming your podcast is more than just a creative exercise, it’s a strategic decision that influences how your show is discovered, remembered, and understood. A great podcast name helps you stand out in crowded directories, improves your SEO, sets the tone for your brand, and creates a stronger connection with your audience. There are three common naming approaches: creative and abstract titles that grab attention but might not immediately convey the topic, descriptive titles that clearly communicate what your show is about, and titles that use the host's name, which work best when the host already has a following. The best name strikes a balance between being interesting, meaningful, and easy to find.
To come up with a strong title, start by thinking about the core message and tone of your show. Do a little competitive research to see how similar shows are named, then find a way to make yours stand out. Aim for a short, memorable title under four words is ideal, and try to include keywords that make it easier for people to find your podcast through search. Make sure the name isn’t already taken by checking domains, social handles, and podcast platforms. It should be simple to say and spell, and ideally tie into your personal or business brand for consistency. Most importantly, pick a name that gives you room to grow as your content evolves. A strong title will not only attract listeners but also set the tone for everything your podcast stands for. Read More

If you’ve heard the podcast boom is fizzling, let’s set the record straight: Not only are podcasts thriving, but the biggest fans are consuming more content than ever before, and new listeners are discovering fresh shows and hosts. Podcast listening has increased fivefold in the last decade, and podcasts now account for nearly 20% of all time spent with audio daily.
As marketers search for more effective ways to reach consumers, podcasts offer a rare direct line to them. While social media users scroll away and TV audiences tune out during commercial breaks, podcast listeners are fully engaged. Podcasts are “me” time—whether through earbuds, smart speakers, or in the car — fans form a deep, one-to-one connection with their favorite content. That intimacy and attentiveness are difficult to replicate in today’s oversaturated media landscape. Read More

Creating a podcast can be a time-consuming task, but using seasons can significantly reduce the hours spent on planning and production. By choosing a broad topic and breaking it down into multiple focused episodes, podcasters can map out entire seasons in just 10 to 30 minutes. This structured approach eliminates the weekly stress of deciding what to cover next and allows for efficient batch recording and editing. Instead of scrambling for ideas, podcasters simply follow a pre-planned outline, ensuring smooth, consistent delivery throughout the season.
Beyond workflow efficiency, seasons also enable deeper listener engagement. Podcasters can collect questions and feedback during breaks between seasons, transforming these insights into relevant, audience-directed content. This not only builds stronger listener loyalty but also ensures episodes truly reflect the interests and needs of the audience. Additionally, tools like Alitu streamline the entire podcast creation process, from recording to editing and publishing making it easier than ever to produce professional quality content on a consistent schedule. YouTube is changing the way that it counts Shorts views, in order to reduce confusion around how it measures Shorts engagement. Though the new approach is also questionable, for its own reasons.
Shorts views will now include the number of times a creator’s Short starts to play or replay. So anytime your Short is on screen, and active, you’ll get a view. Which is simple, for sure, but it seems like it’s probably not a great indicator of actual engagement.
Up till now, YouTube has been somewhat vague on how it counts Shorts views, in order to stop people from gaming the system. Shorts view counts are currently based on a range of considerations, including watch time, whether a user taps on the video, etc. Read More
