Why Nobody is Finding Your Podcast

One simple tweak to make sure your content gets the attention it deserves.

Why Nobody is Finding Your Show

Last week, we talked about iHeartMedia’s State of Podcast 2026, which shared very helpful insights for independent podcasters about growing listenership, and advertising.

If you missed it, definitely click that link, above, so you can read all about it.

But while those industry statistics should be encouraging, they might not mean much to you if your content isn’t getting the attention it deserves.

That’s why we want to share one simple tweak you might consider making to your show production that could help get your show in front of more people this week: searchable titles.

Podcast listening is increasingly driven by search and recommendations rather than browsing:

They open their podcast app.

They search for a topic (personal finance).

They might narrow their search by a personal characteristic that is relevant to them (for students).

And they might even narrow it further by adding an additional characteristic (for medical students).

Then the platforms do their work to try to present shows that would match these terms.

Compare these three titles:

  • Interview with Sally Smith about Saving Money

  • Saving More Money in 2026 with Sally Smith

  • Saving Money as a Busy Graduate Student, featuring Sally Smith

Which episode is likely to come up? Yes, the last one is long and might get cut off. But it’s much more likely to be included in the list of recommended podcasts for that search.

So if you want your show to get included in more relevant search results, consider including the following information in your show titles:

  • Who the episode is for

  • What problem it solves

  • Why someone should click

Here is a Simple Formula for High-Discoverability Titles:

  • How to [Desired Result] Without [Common Pain Point]

Examples:

  • How to Get Podcast Guests Without Cold Outreach

  • How to Monetize a Small Podcast Audience

  • How to Turn Podcast Listeners into Email Subscribers

These titles would likely work well because they match what people type into search bars.

And that’s where new listeners are coming from.
